During LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis), your ophthalmologist will create a small flap in the epithelium of your cornea, accessing your corneal stroma. An excimer laser then reshapes the corneal stroma, correcting your refractive error. Once finished, the flap is set back in place and left to heal.
