Vision loss in adults and seniors can be challenging to adjust to. Losing the ability to comfortably perform daily activities like driving, reading, and watching television can cause feelings of being “shut off” from the world. Having support from eyecare professionals alongside loved ones can make day to day life more manageable.

How to Cope With Low Vision

If you’re beginning to develop a visual impairment that interferes with your ability to enjoy life, your first step should be to consult with your eye care professional. At 20/20 Vision Associates, we can help you work through adjusting to your new situation.

We can help guide you through new habits to integrate into your daily life and other tools. Digital magnifiers and text-to-speech features can significantly make your life easier, but we will discuss what will work best for you and your lifestyle.

We may recommend non-optical adaptive devices, such as large-face printed material, special light fixtures, and guides for around your home. Additionally, special eyewear can help with light sensitivity and heighten contrast.

If you’re dealing with low vision, we’d love to help. Please reach out if you have any questions.
